12 Things Fox Want You To Forget Before X-Men: Days Of Future Past
5. Either Xavier Likes Underage Drinking, Or He Didn't Meet Magneto When He First Claimed
A wistful Professor Xavier confirms in X-Men (2000) that he met his great adversary and old friend Magneto when he was 17, but barring a chance encounter between the two before Lensherr first encountered Xavier and his foster sister in X-Men: First Class that neither thought important enough to mention at the time, that cannot be true. According to X-Men: First Class, of course, Xavier and Lensherr meet for the first time when both go after Sebastian Shaw, and the former helps save the life of the latter when he almost drowns. At this stage, the pair are already in their 20s, unless Xavier somehow gradutated from Oxford University SUPER fast, and started drinking under-age. While it is more romantic to believe that the adversaries met while teenagers, there's no getting around the fact that Michael Fassbender couldn't play a convincing teenager if his career depended on it, and there's no chance of writing it off by claiming that he is older than Xavier in First Class, because the segued opening sequences clearly present the pair as the same age.
