The Original Plan: The "final" shooting script for the movie was set to feature villains Garrison Kane, Sluggo and Wire, as well as more action sequences including a motorcycle chase between Deadpool and Ajax and a huge third-act gunfight.

What Happened?: Before giving Deadpool the final green-light, Fox demanded that screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick trim $7-8 million from the movie's (at the time) $65 million budget within 48 hours, necessitating them to cut roughly 9 pages of content.

This resulted in the three aforementioned villains being combined into Angel Dust and the action being toned down, which Reese and Wernick responded to by hilariously including quips about Fox being too cheap to pay-up and Deadpool forgetting his guns later on.

Did It Work?: Unequiovlcally yes. Reese put it best himself when he said, "It was that last, lean and mean chop that got us to a place where Fox was willing to make it...The script was very efficient and not too long. That was a function of budget more than anything, but I think it really made the movie pace nicely."
