10. Diablo Cody Rewrote The Script Of The Remake
Surprising everyone, the modern remake of The Evil Dead was...mostly not terrible. Sam Raimi's cult classic original still stands up today as a superior B-movie, but it's definitely aged, and the shoestring budget shines through. Nothing wrong with giving it a new lick of paint for audiences not convinced by stop-motion Deadites.
The feature debut of director and screenwriter Fede Alvarez, you can't really blame fans for being worried about the prospect of a reboot. Hollywood has a poor track record of updating horror classics for modern audiences; getting somebody who doesn't speak English as a first language to pen another entry of sharp, dark comedy?
Easily could've been a recipe for disaster. And yet the script for the Evil Dead remake had almost as many classic zingers as the original films, which can mainly be put down to some uncredited rewrites: Juno scripter Diablo Cody took a look at Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues's work and “Americanised” the dialogue, no doubt adding some jokes too.
