9. Eric Bana Is Actually A Great Banner (Because He's Bland)

Eric Bana wasn't the first choice to play Bruce Banner, with several other actors - including Ed Norton - turning the role down and he was something of an unexpected hire coming off his other work.

Even stranger, his performance ended up being mostly bland - and nothing like his turn in Chopper - but watching it back now, it works. This Banner is supposed to be repressed - to the point that his girlfriend leaves him - and whether through design or by accident, Bana's stunted performance actually sells that idea perfectly.

He's not the tortured soul of the MCU Banners (and it's hard to imagine him even cracking a smile), but he does exactly what Ang Lee would have wanted from him.
