8. It's Missing A "Normal" Villain
Because Lee's vision focused more on exploring Banner's demons as a cause of the monster within him, he left little room for a traditional villain - partly also because his story "twist" revealed David as a villain too.
The film still tries to make an allowance for a more typical villain role, but it rather unfortunately gives that space to Josh Lucas' Major Glenn Talbot, a corporate/military man looking to make super soldiers who can self-heal.
He's one-dimensional, entirely predictable and barely memorable - to the point that you can quite easily forget that his sub-plot even exists when recounting the main storyline.
Early in production, we would have seen the Leader, Absorbing Man AND Zzzax play villains, which would have been FAR better than this.
