12 Things You Learn Rewatching Diamonds Are Forever

4. Charles Gray Is A Baffling Blofeld

Blofeld is once again played by another actor in this movie, this time Charles Gray, who is an immediately peculiar choice if only because the actor previously played Dikko Henderson in You Only Live Twice.

Gray plays Blofeld with an irritating camp that makes Donald Pleasence's iteration seem positively subtle and restrained by comparison. It doesn't help that this Blofeld is given the most inherently silly material to work with - Blofeld even dresses in drag at one point - but Gray sadly can't do much to make him seem remotely menacing.

That's the main issue, really: he possesses neither Pleasence's amusing bombast nor Telly Savalas' eerie cool, giving the iconic villain another anemic, underwhelming showing.
