12 Things You Learn Rewatching Die Another Day
10. Michael Madsen Is Hilariously Out Of Place
Does anyone know how Michael Madsen got cast in this movie? The Tarantino regular plays Jinx's NSA boss Damian Falco, and shows up for a few scattered minutes to tell the British off for their cavalier spy antics and...that's pretty much it.
Madsen sticks out like a sore thumb every time he's on screen, and while he doesn't embarrass himself performance-wise, he just doesn't feel like a particularly good fit for a role like this.
Granted, U.S. stuffed shirts have always been a bit of an awkward curiosity in the Bond franchise, and while he's no J.W. Pepper, you might be left wondering why the character exists and how the producers settled on casting Madsen, who was deep into the straight-to-video phase of his career already. Bizarre.
