Poor Pierce Brosnan. It's understandable that his tenure as Bond is often criticised for the generally mediocre-to-awful quality of his output, but how much of that was ever his fault, honestly?

More to the point, the increasingly poor showings of his later Bond films often causes audiences to forget just how great GoldenEye is, and more to the point, how absolutely fantastic Brosnan is in the role.

Brosnan's wiry appearance gives him an easy sense of continuity from Timothy Dalton, while bringing his own easy charm to the part. He deserved such better material for his other three movies, but at least for a brief time, the actor was in the upper echelon of 007 performers.
