OHMSS' pre-title sequence sees Bond saving Tracy di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg) from drowning herself in the ocean, but after he fends off some assailants, she quickly ups and disappears. Cue Bond quipping, "This never happened to the other fellow", before staring directly at the camera as the title sequence kicks off.

Though clearly intended as a cheeky nod at the recasting of Bond, the line if a real cringer, if only because breaking the fourth wall just isn't in step with the tone of the franchise, and the joke isn't funny enough to make it work regardless.

It didn't exactly get Lazenby's Bond tenure off to a terrific start, but he did the best he could with the line. More than its wince-inducing quality, the one-liner also helped generate a popular fan theory, that "James Bond" is in fact a code-name, rather than the identity of just one agent.
