Most of Bond's outings end up with him in bed with a sexy lady while thoroughly fobbing MI6 off, and this one is certainly no exception. It is, however, genuinely hilarious rather than toe-curlingly corny, as so many of the sign-offs tend to be.

As he and Mary are about to get down to business on Scaramang's Junk ship, a phone pops out of the bedside cabinet and Bond answers. It's M (Bernard Lee), who wants to know where Mary is, at which point Bond starts making out with her and curtly retorts to M, "She's just coming, sir."

M waits around for a moment before shouting, "Goodnight!?", prompting Bond to pick up the phone once again, tell him, "Good night" and hang up.

It's a send-off both cheeky and charming, and perfectly suited to Moore's suave sensibilities.
