12 Things You Learn Rewatching The World Is Not Enough

5. Valentin's Death Is Awesome

Valentin Zukovsky is one of the best-loved supporting heroes of the Brosnan era, in large part thanks to Robbie Coltrane's endearingly hammy performance (and accent), and his change-on-a-dime sense of loyalty.

Valentin primarily appears here as comic relief, memorably being almost drowned in his own vat of caviar, though when the Grim Reaper finally comes a-calling, he gets an undeniably awesome death.

After he appears to have been killed in a bomb blast, Valentin makes a surprise re-appearance later on, interrupting Elektra's attempt to murder Bond. Though Elektra does mortally wound him, in his final breath he manages to fire a bullet at the device restraining 007, allowing him to escape and continue his mission.

It's a suitably epic death for one of the more charming and memorable side characters from recent-ish Bond movies.
