6. The Action Sequences Are (Mostly) Ridiculous Yet Boring
Though the aforementioned opening Thames chase gets the movie off to a surging start, it's a bit of a shame that most of the movie's other set-pieces don't really leave a dent.
TWINE marks the tipping point at which the Brosnan movies lurched from entertainingly OTT to desperately silly, because despite Bond being chased by a giant saw suspended from a helicopter and nearly getting blown up inside an oil pipeline, it's all a bit dull.
With a disappointing emphasis on CGI in these sequences, it largely lacks the grit of the prior two movies, and even though the final showdown on Renard's sub is mostly indebted to simple, practical effects, it's ultimately not very interesting at all.
Granted, it's nowhere near as monotonously demented as Die Another Day, but we'll get into that next week.
