Who Actually Won? Sean Penn for Milk The difference between Rourke's role in the wrestler and the role that Sean Penn actually won the statue for - Harvey Milk, in Milk - is that anybody probably could have played the latter. Rourke's role as Randy 'The Ram' Robinson is another story; the story so closely vibes on Rourke's own rise-and-fall tale that it's hard to know where one ends and the other begins. It's astonishing to think that he might not even have got the chance if Nic Cage hadn't dropped out early. That's not to say that Rourke doesn't put any work into it, though; far from it. His performance fires on all cylinders and he was utterly robbed.
