12 Times DCEU Movies Completely Changed The Comics

9. Rick Flag And June Moone's Relationship -Suicide Squad

2016' Suicide Squad was a commercial success but a critical misfire due to its haphazard editing, confused tone, and uninspired antagonists leading to a movie that reeked of executive interference that was a result of a misguided response to Batman v. Superman's failure and the tone set by its admittedly excellent first trailer.

Some of the movie's problems are captured in the handling of Rick Flag and June Moone/Enchantress. Their romance was designed to be the heart of the film's storyline and show the personal implications the Enchantress' plans had on the couple. However, that was possibly lost in the editing room as neither character is fleshed out and their relationship gets the bare minimum treatment.

In the comics, the characters were nothing more than unwilling teammates on the titular group and as a result, their arcs were given more attention without the crutch of an arbitrary romance. As a matter of fact, Enchantress is in a relationship with Killer Croc, an unlikely pairing that is more interesting than the film romance.
