12 Times DCEU Movies Completely Changed The Comics
10. Cassandra Cain's Characterization - Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey
The DCEU's vision for the titular heroes in the Birds of Prey film was less ''dark and mysterious'' and more ''quirky R-Rated Looney Tunes'' and this change to the tone and style of the franchise was a welcome one, with its irreverent style and colorful characters and visuals making it one of the stronger DCEU efforts from a critical standpoint.
This stylistic deviation was felt in the film's walking Macguffin, Cassandra Cain. Her characterization and demeanor in the comics and film are worlds apart, with comics Cassandra being the child of DC's premier martial artists, David Cain and Lady Shiva. She was trained from an early age to be a martial arts maestro but at the expense of her ability to speak as well as her social skills (her cognitive skills have been directed towards reading her opponent's movements).
The film version of the character has none of her assassin skillsets nor is she is the child of Cain and Lady Shiva. Instead, she is a pre-teen pickpocket who lives with neglectful foster parents. She runs amok of the film villain', Black Mask after stealing his prized diamond from his right-hand man, Victor Zsasz.
