12 Times Terrible Acting Ruined Potentially Great Movies

7. Magic Mike

Steven Soderbergh's surprisingly nuanced movie about the travails of male strippers has charm and sexiness to spare...if you can look past two horrendously bland performances at the centre.

First off is Alex Pettyfer, who plays stripper protege and glorified audience surrogate Adam. Pettyfer, who had appeared in just six feature films before being cast in Magic Mike, looks utterly lost among a far more experienced ensemble cast, which may also be a result of Pettyfer's apparent clashes with star Channing Tatum during shooting.

You can argue that Pettyfer's doe-eyed performance reflects the character's own status as an outsider in this world, but it ultimately plays as bland and emotionally flat.

And then there's Cody Horn, who plays Adam's sister and Mike's (Tatum) love interest Brooke. Horn's charmless performance makes her casting opposite the decidedly more appealing Tatum all the more baffling, as a screen test should've made it abundantly clear the two were a poor match.

She basically has one facial expression for the entire movie, and it probably would've made more sense for her and co-star Olivia Munn - who also plays one of Mike's lovers - to switch roles. At least Munn had some semblance of chemistry with Tatum and actual screen presence to boot.
