You can find horror movies about pretty much anything. Dogs? Check! The Gingerbread Man? Hell yeah! A man being turned into a walrus? Kevin Smith's got you covered! Still, sometimes you hear a movie premise and think, "how has no one made that already?". That's certainly the case here, as a horror movie based inside a Halloween haunted house seems too good to be true.

Hell House LLC depicts a documentary crew's attempts to investigate the disastrous opening of a haunted house tour that led to the deaths of 15 people. They visit the site five years after the disaster but are met with the consequences of their curiosity.

There's a lot to love about this minimalistic yet well-executed horror. You'll get all sorts of tension in the movie thanks to the believable performances and strong art direction. There's even a group of clown costumes that will get the coulrophobes sweating.

Hell House went on to produce two sequels, turning itself into a trilogy. Despite that, it's barely mentioned by horror fans, which is bizarre, seeing as it's technically a franchise. It may not be as influential as Paranormal Activity, but it's arguably a much better slew of flicks.
