12 Upcoming Comic Book Movie Performances That Will Kick Ass

1. Robert Pattinson - Batman (The Batman)

After months of flirtation and lots of sad, knowing nods, Ben Affleck bowed out of playing Batman with monstrous inevitability, kicking off a speculation cycle on who would replace him. This being Batman, the eventual choice - Robert Pattinson - was met with even more inevitably divisive reactions. Some even verged on venomous, which proves nothing beyond some people's ignorance of Pattinson's career.

Sure, he might have started out in Harry Potter and Twilight, but like Daniel Radcliffe, Pattinson has worked hard to try and cast off the YA Fiction "R-Pattz" image, frequently choosing interesting projects over obvious bankers. And in doing so, he's proved himself a prodigiously gifted actor.

He's also no stranger to darker material and the idea of him playing a more psychologically-focused, detective Batman rather than one who talks with his biceps first makes this casting among the most exciting of the next few years.
