12 Upcoming Movie Sequels You Definitely Didn't Need

3. Die Hard

Triplets movie
20th Century Fox

Release: Unknown

Premise: John McClane calls more terrorists motherf*cker in memory of Hans Gruber.

Preceded by: A Good Day to Die Hard

Before the abysmally titled A Good Day to Die Hard, Bruce Willis said he would retire John McClane after a sixth film, when actually, it should really have been a lot earlier. In late 2015 Len Wiseman, director of Live Free or Die Hard, tweeted a picture of a graphic title Die Hard: Year One, sparking rumours that the film would focus on a young McClane in 1979. We have also been promised that Willis will have a substantial role, so look out for some young Tony Stark CGI/some bad one-liners with him returning to the titular role. However, with Willis talking of "retiring" McClane, it is more likely to be a direct sequel.

20th Century Fox dropped the ball after luring Samuel L. Jackson on board as McClane's reluctant partner in the threequel, but the franchise just kept on trucking. No. 5 introduced Jai Courtney as McClane Jr. and one of the most poorly-acted father/son relationships out there. When your tagline is "Yippee Ki-Yay Mother Russia" it is time to give up... but they just won't. Hollywood should probably also expect Die Hard 7 where we meet McClanes's granddaughter, a savvy internet hacker.
