12 Upcoming Movies That Could Change Things Forever

2. The Avengers 3 Is Robert Downey Jr's Final Time As Tony Stark

Robert Downey Jr. has been teasing for a long time already that he won't be playing the Tony Stark role for much longer (given that he's already 49 years old), and though many dismiss this as a crass negotiation tactic, there's a clear feeling that the actor doesn't want to be playing the part forever, and will gracefully bow out when the time comes. Though Downey has already filmed Avengers: Age of Ultron and is signed on for The Avengers 3, anything beyond that (namely a fourth Iron Man film) is very much up in the air, with the actor playing curiously coy about the whole affair. Given the tens of millions he makes from each film alone, the actor is certainly at a point where the satisfaction of his work can take precedent, and if he feels like he's had his fill, then audiences will regrettably have to save goodbye to the comic book movie's most quick-witted character. As with Wolverine, it will be painful hearing that Tony Stark has been recast, but given how these elemental, iconic characters will likely endure for decades (much like James Bond), switching actors will be inevitable and necessary in the long run.
