1. Alien: Covenant

Although not a great deal is known as yet about its plotline, Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant will, according to 20th Century Fox, focus on the crew of colony ship Covenant and their discovery of an unchartered planet whose sole inhabitant is android David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Better yet, Scott himself has promised fans the film will feature all incarnations of the franchise’s infamous alien race, from unhatched eggs and face-huggers to chest-bursters and the big, bad alien queen.

Some fans of the franchise were disappointed with Prometheus in its lack of links to the original Alien universe, save a chest-burster right at the end of the film, but hopes are high that the new prequel will at least start to bridge the gap between the two. Add to that rumours already abounding that cast member Katherine Waterson, currently credited only as ‘Daniels’, could be playing Ellen Ripley’s mum and it looks as though Alien: Covenant could answer more than a few lingering questions.
