5. Adding Weird Hybrids For The Sake Of It - The Predator

The Lesson: Jurassic World

The latest teaser for Shane Black's upcoming reboot-sequel The Predator shows off the arrival of the Predator hybrid that was hinted at in the first trailer, a gigantic, genetically-engineered uber-Predator that makes the iconic one look positively puny.

Honestly, though, this new Predator's just a bit underwhelming, in part because it suggests that audiences are fed up with the regular Predator, and so something bigger - and "better" - must be introduced to keep viewers interested.

This is rather reminiscent of Jurassic World introducing weird hybrids into the mix - with the movie even acknowledging that the park's attendees are bored of regular dinosaurs...somehow - and similarly, it's likely to pay off with decidedly mixed results here.

Audiences sure aren't bored of the Predator, in much the same way they weren't bored of conventional dinosaurs.

The lack of good Predator or Jurassic Park movies in recent years seems to have confused the respective studios about what audiences actually want, and much like Jurassic World, The Predator could as such turn out dreadfully mediocre.
