12 Upcoming Sci-Fi Movies That Could Be Better Than Star Wars: The Last Jedi
11. Mute
Release Date: TBA 2018
A spiritual successor to director Duncan Jones' 2009 sci-fi classic Moon, Mute has been Jones' brainchild project for many years, and after languishing in development hell for around a decade, Netflix has finally stepped in to ensure Jones' vision comes to fruition.
Mute takes place 40 years from now in Berlin, where a mute man named Leo Butler (Alexander SkarsgÄrd) searches for his missing girlfriend, whose disappearance leads him to track down two American surgeons (Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux).
Though Jones' Warcraft was a crushing disappointment, the director is clearly much more comfortable in the lower-budget arena, and while little is known about the film so far, it's easy to see him knocking this out of the park with the creative control granted by teaming up with Netflix.
