12 Ways Comic Book Movies Totally Ripped Each Other Off

2. Giant Robots That Shoot Things Out Of Their Face

It hasn't been released yet, but X-Men: Days Of Future Past has already attracted accusations that it has ironically looked into the past for inspiration for a group of important characters.

When the first major trailer was released, following the release of Empire's commemorative character-reveal covers, fans were treated to a first look at the two different versions of the Sentinels. The early design from the Fassbender/McAvoy timeline very much recalls the iconic classic design of the robots from the comics, but the future redesign, with their scale-like armour and integrated weapons system looked suspiciously like they'd been borrowed from Kenneth Branagh's Thor.

Though the head design looked far more like a goofy miner's lamp, the Destroyer who invades Earth to take out Thor is incredibly similar to the new Sentinel design, and the familiarity is amplified by the fact that both use their faces as guns. Surely that can't be an accident?
