12 Ways James Cameron Can Save The Terminator Franchise

6. Keep The Spoilerific Marketing Under Control

The Terminator franchise has an infamous history with awkward, overly spoilerific marketing campaigns dating all the way back to T2, which gave away the movie's big twist (that Arnie's now the hero) ahead of time.

Since then, Salvation's trailers needlessly ruined that Marcus was a human-Terminator hybrid, and Genisys spoiled the big reveal that John Connor gets turned into a Terminator.

The latter plot point being given away for free was clearly a case of studio desperation, a lame attempt to get butts in seats out of curiosity, but it ultimately left a lot of fans sour over knowing where the movie was going before they even got in the cinema.

T6 needs to learn from these marketing gaffes by revealing only the bare plot in trailers and focusing more on the action than anything else.

Will It Happen?: Cameron will presumably have input on how the film is marketed, so fingers crossed he won't let the series make this mistake for the fourth time. It doesn't seem terribly likely that it'll happen again, but people also said that about Genisys...
