12 Ways James Cameron Can Save The Terminator Franchise
5. Don't Forget The Future War
Probably the most common fan request since T2 has been for someone to make a Terminator movie that covers the future war, taking that jaw-dropping sequence from T2 and extended it out to two hours, complete with compelling characters, of course. A futuristic Saving Private Ryan, if you like.
Salvation attempted this, but the result was a weirdly boring, visually flat mess that went down like a lead balloon with most fans. And so, fans are hoping that Cameron might give them a do-over by setting another movie during the climactic war between man and machine.
Will It Happen?: Doubtful. Salvation's poor reception probably soured Cameron on the idea, and that's without forgetting the box office ceiling that's placed on war movies (even sci-fi ones, apparently).
It's far more commercially viable to make the film a more typical blockbuster, so that's probably what will happen.
