12 Worst Casting Decisions In Spider-Man Movies
6. Tony Revolori As Flash Thompson (Homecoming)
Yes, obviously Homecoming was shooting for a different type of high school bully with its incarnation of Flash Thompson, but it wasn't especially effective.
Tony Revolori's version of the character is a far cry from the stereotypical jock we've come to expect from Flash - he's Peter's intellectual equal and a man of cruel words, rather than actions.
Clearly the movie was seeking a form of bully that is more relevant to today's climate, but Flash needs to be at least somewhat imposing.
He's no kind of advisory for Peter - nothing he does seems to particularly get under the character's skin and a his putdowns could really have used some work.
There are times when sticking to the traditional version of a character is no crime, and this is one of them.
Having a high school rival who starts out as Parker's physical superior is a powerful reminder of just how potent the abilities he becomes responsible for really are.
