20605198 When accounting for everything I€™ve praised above from the directorial brutal depiction to countless unforgettable acting performances to an exceptional score to strikingly detailed authenticity in production values to the distressingly engaging story itself, it should be pretty damn obvious why this is a contender for the most prestigious award a film could win. I truthfully echo the common consensus of critics and moviegoers alike and consider this one of the most important films ever made. It should without a doubt be mandatory viewing when teaching about slavery during American History classes. Above all else, it€™s simply a masterpiece in filmmaking.
