2. Best Actor - Chiwetel Ejiofor 
Chiwetel Ejiofor portrays Solomon Northup and delivers what is by a landslide the best acting performance of 2013. Without even uttering a word his facial expressions can tell more of story than most actors have all year with dialogue. When he is talking on screen though, whether hes begging for mercy or talking back to his owners, you are even further mesmerized. Solomon is put through endless hell and Eijiofor is able to make us sympathize every step of the way, and at some points potentially break down and cry. This is an acting performance that is unmatched in slavery films, and will be remembered as one of the greatest of all time.
