A few years ago, Adrien Brody confirmed rumours that he was one of the final few actors up for the part of The Joker in The Dark Knight, adding, "Heath was tremendous in that, but yeah, I would've loved to have done that. It was an amazing role. Amazing." Would It Have Worked?: Brody's angular facial features and generally unconventional appeal would have made him a strong fit for the role, so it's no surprise he made it down to the bone against Ledger and others. Brody's filmography wasn't exactly packed with visceral roles ahead of 2008, though he did prove with 2010's Predators that he can play super-intense, grizzled, raspy-voiced characters, so this could have been just the transformative role his career desperately needed.
