Ray Liotta was another on-the-rise actor considered for the part of The Joker, and in a recent interview confessed as such, stating, "I remember right after a movie I did, 'Something Wild,' Tim Burton wanted to meet me for Batman. And at that time, I said, 'What are you kidding me? I'm an actor.' But now it's changed; now it's good because if you do that you get other movies." Would It Have Worked?: Totally. Liotta may not have yet cemented himself in the annals of cinema history with his magnificent turn in Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas, but by 1989 he had earned solid acclaim for his part in Something Wild, yet 25 years ago, Hollywood's regard for superhero movies was not what it was today, and frankly, who can blame them? Liotta's piercing eyes and distinctive light facial scarring would have made him an instantly intense, terrifying Joker: let's just say there's a reason he's primarily cast in villainous and morally ambiguous roles throughout his career. This could have been magnetic.
