13 Anticipated 2018 Movies Destined To Disappoint
2. Solo: A Star Wars Story
The Buzz: It's a Han Solo origin story: what more do you need to know? Well, it's got the terrific Alden Ehrenheich playing Han Solo, Woody Harrelson as his mentor Beckett, Donald Glover as Lando freaking Calrissian, and Thandie Newton and Paul Bettany in unspecified supporting roles, to name just a few.
Effectively a Han-Chewie buddy movie, expect the charm and fan service to be laid on extra-thick.
Why It'll Disappoint: The film's incredibly rough production makes it hard to expect anything more than a passable victory lap for Han Solo.
With Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy apparently being unhappy with Ehrenreich's initial performance and firing original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the shoot has certainly been a wild ride.
Plus, Ron Howard is hardly an inspired directorial replacement, so it's best to expect a workmanlike Star Wars movie that probably tells audiences more about Han Solo than they ever really wanted to know.
