13 Awesome Films You Forgot Were Christmas Movies

13. Edward Scissorhands

Tim Burton's magnificently charming fantasy drama begins with an elderly woman (later revealed to be Winona Ryder's Kim) explaining to her granddaughter why it snows. The source, of course, is Edward Scissorhands (Johnny Depp), whose beautiful ice sculptures create ice shavings which shower down upon the cookie cutter California suburb below his opulent castle abode.

Though there are some light satirical elements regarding suburbia's holiday rituals (namely the fake-ness of their trees and decorations), there's also some genuine wonder here: who can forget the breathtaking scene in which Kim dances under the snow falling from the ice angel Edward carved for her?

It may be too dark for younger audiences, but it's got a heart-warming message, and the town's treatment of Edward, of casting him aside once they get bored of him, is reflective of how so many of us regard Christmas gifts. Remember: an Edward is for life, not just for Christmas.
