13 Awesome Films You Forgot Were Christmas Movies

11. Almost Any Shane Black Movie

Shane Black really, really loves Christmas. Four of his films to date have prominently featured the season: Lethal Weapon, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3. Black does a fantastic job of working the holiday into his films in a totally unconventional manner: take Lethal Weapon, which features shootouts surrounded by Christmas trees and a suicidal protagonist in Riggs (Mel Gibson). After all, Christmas is the most suicide-prone time of the year.

Then there's The Long Kiss Goodnight, which initially depicts protagonist Samantha Caine (Geena Davis) as a typical middle-class woman getting into the spirit of the season...before she hits her head and recovers her Special Set of Skills. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang meanwhile features the lovely Michelle Monaghan in a sexy Santa outfit, and of course, there's Iron Man 3, which had the balls to come out in May despite prominently featuring Christmas trees and snow.

It didn't hurt the film's immense box office grosses one bit, though one couldn't help but wonder why it wasn't released in November instead. Any one of these movies will do plenty to get you in the mood for Christmas, while also delivering a mass of scathing wit and explosions.
