Whilst Friday the 13th might be one of the horror world's most infamous franchises and Jason Voorhees its most famous mascot, it's clear that not nearly enough people have seen and truly appreciated the 2009 reboot of the series.

A re-imagining of the first four original Friday films, Friday the 13th was written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, directed by Marcus Nispel and easily features the most terrifying Jason to date. Instead of the maurading zombie-like character we've all come to know and love, the sorely underrated reboot features a Jason that can run, jump and spring around Crystal Lake in a way we have never seen before.

This Jason is much more like a survivalist and a lone hunter than his previous versions, setting various traps across the area for the film's teenagers to overcome as well as rigging up a system of alarm bells that notify him where someone is at any time.

This Jason's most gruesome moment has to be where he launches a whole wood axe from distance into Lawrence, keeping the poor guy alive long enough for him to scream for help and lure his friends back outside for Jason to wipe out.
