13 Awesome Movie Sequel Pitches That Were Stupidly Scrapped

1. Weaponised Sharks - Deep Blue Sea 2

The Pitch: Back in 2008, Warner Bros. was planning to release a sequel to the hit shark movie Deep Blue Sea, which would've seen Wild Things 2 and Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus director Jack Perez helming a movie which saw a group of Navy SEALs taking on weaponised sharks which have been surgically kitted out with "machine guns, torpedoes and other weapons".

Just...what!? It's a logline clearly co-authored by cocaine, and one can only dream about how ludicrously entertaining this could've been with the right tone. Perez himself described it as "Predator with sharks". All in, day one.

What Happened?: Though a Deep Blue Sea sequel has actually been shot for SyFy, its premise sadly sounds much tamer than Perez's hilarious concept, so it's hard to be much excited.

As for Perez's version, he did talk about his movie being tough to execute on the sub-$5 million budget Warner Bros. gave him, so that may have factored in to it never getting off the ground. What a loss for humanity.
