10. Rocky Balboa...Because Rocky V Was An Incredibly Unsatisfying Finale
The Awesome Movie: Sylvester Stallone's most memorable and beloved character makes a comeback...again...and probably (hopefully) for the last time. While the sixth Rocky film could have been a disaster if it refused to acknowledge Sly's increasing age, the movie dealt with it in a mature fashion yet also proved that Sly was still in incredible shape for a man who was pushing 60 at the time of filming. Stallone got lucky here with a minor, unexpected masterwork in his filmography, and hopefully he won't tempt fate again. How It Got Made: Rocky V was released in 1990 to by far the worst critical (26%) and commercial reception of the series to date, with fans being turned off by the relatively depressing end to the title character's story. Stallone later admitted that he screwed it up, and for years tried to get a sixth film made to give the character some more enlightening closure. After 15 years, it finally happened, but only because Rocky V totally sucked in the first place.
