13 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (Which Aren't Blockbusters)

6. The Book Of Henry

The Book Of Henry Jacob Tremblay
Focus Features

Release Date: June 16

The Plot: A coming-of-age tale following Henry Carpenter (Jaeden Lieberher) and his younger brother Peter (Jacob Tremblay), as they hatch a plan with their mother Susan (Naomi Watts) to rescue their neighbour Christina (Maddie Ziegler) from her stern Police Commissioner father (Dean Norris).

Why It's Going To Be Awesome: Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow returns to low-budget filmmaking ahead of Star Wars: Episode IX with this $10 million drama boasting a great cast (also including Sarah Silverman and Lee Pace), and a script from comic book author Gregg Hurwitz.

Though it remains to be seen exactly how the tone will play out, there's a ridiculous amount of talent attached, and sandwiched in-between the releases of The Mummy and Transformers: The Last Knight, it'll hopefully serve up a welcome dose of heart and intelligence.
