And the award for 'Best Performance in a terrible 2021 Movie' goes to... Amy Adams' lead turn in The Woman at the Window.

Amy Adams is one of the finest American actresses working today and it's not like we needed any more proof of her brilliance, but The Woman in the Window provided it anyway.

This movie is an atrociously-delivered train-wreck of a film on every conceivable level and one of the worst films ever made by a prestigious director (Joe Wright) yet Adams is legitimately really good in it. Fighting an uphill battle against the appalling writing and directing, she really pulls viewers in and gives a sad, deeply affecting performance as a traumatized agoraphobic.

The fact that Adams gave such a powerful, well-executed performance in what is otherwise a largely worthless excuse for a thriller is a shining testament to her phenomenal acting chops and by many clear miles, she's the greatest thing in one of the worst films of the year.
