13 Awesome Performances In Otherwise Disappointing 2021 Movies

12. Millicent Simmonds And Cillian Murphy - A Quiet Place Part II

Reminiscence Hugh Jackman
Paramount

This OK but underwhelming horror sequel will probably leave most viewers at least a little disappointed, and one of its biggest issues is that it wastes most of the cast. Emily Blunt and Noah Jupe don't get nearly enough to do, while Djimon Housou and Scoot McNairy are wasted on tiny parts.

In the end, this movie is basically the Cillian Murphy and Millicent Simmonds show since those are the only two characters who get much to do, but that's not a bad thing. As frustrating as the side-lining of the actors was, spending the film with Murphy and Simmonds is still a pleasure.

As a hardened survivor of the film's monsters, the ever-outstanding Cillian Murphy is just as compelling and emotive as you'd expect and much like in the first film, deaf actress Millicent Simmonds proves herself a tremendously mature and gifted young performer who carries the film with her superb performance. Without question, she's got one hell of a bright future ahead of her.
