13 Awkward Moments That Must Have Happened After The End Of Famous Movies

6. Henry Falls Back Into Drugs And Gets Kicked Out Of Witness Protection - Goodfellas

Warner Bros. Pictures

The Actual Ending: This one'€™s a tad different given that Goodfellas is a pretty close adaptation of real life gangster Henry Hill's rise and fall, but it€™'s a story still worth mentioning on the list, if on more of a sombre basis. Martin Scorsese'€™s defining gangster epic (The Departed'€™s Oscar was really making up for this 1990 snub) ends with what was then the present situation; Hill sells out his gangster friends in exchange for his own case being dropped and entry into the witness protection programme.

The Awkward Moment: Less a movie moment and more something that happened in real life. After selling his story for a novel and movie adaptation, Henry Hill€™'s life wasn't the boring one the film suggested. He divorced from his wife and was eventually kicked out of witness protection after a string of drug related crimes. In fact he was in trouble with the law up until a couple of years before his death in 2011.

Of course, one upside to this is that by the point he was kicked out Hill was no longer in danger. The mobsters he€™'d fingered were either dead or too old to be a problem, but it'€™s a sad turn on what should have been a movie-like happy ending.
