13 Background Distractions That Completely Ruined Movie Scenes

8. Blofeld's Cat Is REALLY Not Happy

As the clip from The Last Samurai above proves, you should never work with animals on screen, because no matter how well trained they are, or how usually well behaved, you can never quite tell how they will react in stressful or volatile situations. And film sets can often throw up those conditions as a regular occurrence.

Just ask whose Blofeld was the definitive version of the character, combining a grim charisma with an effortless oddness that used the dynamic with his famous white kitty to perfection. But even criminal masterminds and supervillains suffer at the mercy of a spooked animal, as the cat proves in this clip from You Only Live Twice.

Clearly unhappy with the on-set explosions, the animal shows its disdain and completely upstages everyone else in the scene in the process. So, that's how Blofeld got the scar then. Full marks really have to go to Pleasence who doesn't miss a beat, despite the claws clearly penetrating his arm skin and the writhing, unhappy creature attempting to escape his clutches.
