13 Best Comic Book Movie Deleted Scenes You Need To See

Let's face it - as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill, Cobie Smulders is one of the best things in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That's not surprising, since the star of How I Met Your Mother is also one of the most under-appreciated actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it's horrifying to think that a whole scene with Maria Hill got cut from The Winter Soldier.

In the scene, Hill sends sparks flying by sparring verbally with Jasper Sitwell, the odious HYDRA mole, about how Cap inspires loyalty, only for Agent Sitwell to retort that S.H.I.E.L.D. demands loyalty too. Sitwell, played by Maximiliano Hernandez, is a character that has somehow managed to appear in a surprisingly large number of MCU productions, including Thor, two Blu-ray shorts, The Avengers, and three episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Having these two actors sniping at each other is a delight to behold, and it's a pity that the scene got axed.

Actually, the decision to cut the exchange makes even less sense when the bits that got left in are considered. Deleting this part in favour of keeping far more stilted scenes of Captain America and Black Widow trading buttock-clenchingly bad banter with zero on-screen chemistry makes no sense whatsoever.
