13 Best Movies From Otherwise Terrible Franchises

12. Transformers - Transformers Franchise

Jurassic Park
DreamWorks Pictures/Paramount Pictures

Other Films: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Transformers: The Last Knight and Bumblebee.

Alright, this one is cheating a bit since Bumblebee is the best of this largely terrible franchise, but that spin-off film is very different from the others and it's a little more interesting to look at the only film in the main series that followed the loud, chaotic and silly formula that defines this franchise and actually worked. That is the 2007 original.

Transformers is deeply flawed and you'll need to be in the right mood to fully get into its OTT mayhem, but it is actually a well-judged and effective Hollywood blockbuster. It's got great action sequences, is frequently very funny and it also nails exactly the right tone and shows an admirable degree of self-awareness.

Overall, Transformers (2007) is an engaging and fun action film and it's certainly better than the four terrible sequels that followed it. In particular, Revenge of the Fallen is arguably one of the worst films Ever made.
