And now for something a little lighter, albeit still immersed in a clear coat of dark comedy. Waking Ned revolves around an elderly man who wins the National Lottery only to die of shock, causing his fellow villagers to scramble together to try and claim the ticket in his absence.

It's got an old guy riding a motorcycle naked and a woman in a phonebox getting smashed off a cliff by a passing car: what more do you honestly want out of a movie?

With some trenchant observations on our collective attitude to death but mostly operating as a daft comedy, Waking Ned is brilliantly oddball and at times weirdly poignant.

Oh, and James Nesbitt's in it, which is pretty much reason enough to watch anything.
