7. Wall-E

Pixar

Who said the post-apocalyptic had to be all doom and gloom? Pixar's dive into the genre couldn't be more wholesome, as the garbage-compactor droid Wall-E falls for an Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator, aka EVE.

Of course, their story unfolds in a world where humans have abandoned the Earth and have become immobile, social-media addicted blobs unable to take their eyes away from the computer screens. Yeah, it hits pretty close to home.

Despite that depressing evaluation on the trajectory of our species, Pixar still manages to tug at our heartstrings with this plucky robot's personality as he fire-extinguishes across the stars with his newfound love. Wall-E is probably one of the few films on this list to hint at a glimmer of hope for the human race, as the credits show the humans and automata working side by side to reclaim Earth from its pollution.

If the end of the world involved the heartwarming romance between two robots, then count me in!
