Best: Sophie's Choice (1982) This could just be a list of the majority of Streep's films from the past decade or longer, given how many awards she has either picked up or been nominated for. But then, a fine Streep performance does not always lead to a universally loved or acclaimed movie, which is why the prospect of picking one Best Film is not quite as daunting as initially might be suspected. On those terms, it is 1982's haunting tale of despair, Sophie's Choice - for which she won an Oscar - that wins out. It is by no means an enjoyable film, but it is utterly enthralling, and Streep's performance is spell-binding, especially considering how different it appears sitting next to the likes of Death Becomes Her, The Devil Wears Prada and The Iron Lady. Worst: Lions For Lambs (2007) Robert Redford's film is more insistent of its own importance than it is actually entertaining, and despite intriguing subject matter, it presents its facts rigorously and clinically without so much as an ounce of flair or entertainment. If they had no confidence in the medium to translate the message, why bother making it a film in the first place?
