13 Biggest Mistakes The Batman Movies Ever Made

4. The Dark Knight Rises - "WHERE'S THE TRIGGER?"

As previously stated, Christian Bale was a very exciting choice to play Batman, given his immense skill as an actor, and his oft-noted near fanatical devotion to nailing the part. However, there was always one slight issue with his performance: the voice he used as Batman.

Now, to be entirely fair, it was a smart move for Batman to use a clearly different voice than Bruce Wayne; none of Bale's predecessors had made too great a point of doing this, and it's notable that his successor Ben Affleck made a distinction with use of a digital effect on his vocals.

Bale, however, opted to separate the Dark Knight from the man behind the mask by delivering his lines in a harsh, animalistic growl. All well and good in theory, but in practice... well, sometimes it comes off a bit absurd.

No scene demonstrates this better than Batman's climactic confrontation with Tom Hardy's Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. It should be such a powerful, redemptive moment; having regained his strength and then some, Batman dares to once again confront the hulking adversary who very nearly killed him, and proves more than up to the challenge.

Alas, Batman's demand that Bane gives up the location of the trigger under which he is holding Gotham hostage comes out like... this.

Footnote: some would argue that Hardy's Bane voice was every bit as silly if not more so, but I'd have to disagree. After the character's misuse in Batman & Robin, Bane was ripe for reinvention, and Hardy's eccentric take turned what many would previously have dismissed as a lower-tier Batman adversary into one of his most memorable opponents.

Ben Bussey hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
