13 Biggest Mistakes The Batman Movies Ever Made
3. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice - "WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?"
Not unlike Batman & Robin, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is another instance when the sins are so multitudinous it's hard to know where to start. Under the circumstances we'll sidestep all the complaints that can be made of Superman, Lex Luthor, Doomsday etc. and keep the focus squarely on Ben Affleck's introduction as Batman.
While his casting had been met with widespread derision, Affleck proved them all wrong for the most part. His older, more world-weary take on the role largely works, and physically he's the most impressive Batman by far. The already imposing 6′ 4″ actor really beefed up for the role, reportedly using workouts not unlike that which we see him perform in the movie.
But none of that was enough to save what most agree is the one of the most unintentionally hilarious moments in modern cinema: Batman's sudden decision to not kill Henry Cavill's Superman, based on the revelation that their mothers are both called Martha.
It's open to debate whether "WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?" is any more or less absurd than "WHERE'S THE TRIGGER?" Ultimately though, all the moment really does is bring to light just how flimsy the reasoning is behind Batman and Superman fighting in the first place, and as such how misconceived the whole premise of the film really was.
But not to worry, because very soon thereafter Batman and Superman are fighting side by side with Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman - who, as we all know, fixes everything.
