13 Bonkers Theories About 2016’s Movies That Surely Can’t Be True

1. Ben Affleck Is Actually Playing Deathstroke - Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice

The Theory: Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne is not in fact Bruce Wayne aka Batman at all, but instead Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson wearing Batman's suit, while Jeremy Irons is in fact Wilson's own butler William Randolph Wintergreen. The insane yet highly entertaining theory (which you can read for yourself here) further posits that Man of Steel and Batman v Superman are a direct continuation of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight universe, and that Christian Bale will re-appear at the end of Batman v Superman to re-assume the Batman mantle. Why It Could Be True: For one, it'd be a great way to avoid all of the confusion surrounding the "reboot" of Batman, as casual audiences may be expecting it to follow Nolan's continuity and be disappointed or annoyed when it doesn't. Most of the theoretical "evidence" is circumstantial but interesting nonetheless, though considering that Nolan is an executive producer on Batman v Superman, it'd be pretty strange for him to have his fingers in two different interpretations of the same character, no? Why It Probably Won't Be: It's just too freaking ridiculous, and risks confusing fans even more while also diluting the Batman brand as audiences turn up for a movie about the Caped Crusader only for it to turn out to be some dude impersonating him. Remember how p***ed people were about "The Mandarin" in Iron Man 3? If that's what should be expected for one of Iron Man's enemies, the Internet would probably break in two if they dared pull a bait-and-switch with one of the most iconic superheroes ever, no matter if Bale showed up at the end. Plus, Bale's slate is pretty full right now, so re-introducing him as Batman seems massively unlikely. What do you make of these insane 2016 movie theories? Bulls***? Or could they somehow happen?
